What is your biggest achievement to date – personal or professional?
My biggest achievement so far is getting approved as a psychologist in two countries, and all by my self organising my permanent visa and moving here 2015 to start a whole new life and live my dream.
Before working at Brisbane Wellbeing what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
My most unusual job must have been working as a psychologist at a maximum security prison for men. It was also interesting working as a store manager at a one hour photo shop back in the days when they existed.
If you could do a completely different job for a day, what would it be?
Florist or some kind of job working with plants.
What do you like most about your job?
Being able to be there for people when they are struggling and being able to feel joy with them as they take steps forward, and meet their goals. It’s great when clients are brave to make changes and it pays of for example when they want to be less limited by their anxiety or OCD.
What tv show/movie are you ashamed to admit you love?
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. It’s silly but very funny and they throw in some clever satire once in a while.
What makes you laugh?
Quite a few funny Netflix comedy series. Otherwise when good friends tell me about absurd situations they might find themselves in. Also I laugh hysterically when I am on roller coasters or thrill rides. It’s like a involuntary villain laugh that escapes me when I am on thrill rides.
What is your motto or personal mantra?
I often say “Lifemode” when I am enjoying a moment. I started saying it when I was having dinner with a friend who just started his leave, and he said “vacation mode” as he was enjoying the meal.
I answered by saying “Life mode” with the meaning that I try to make the most and enjoy any moment small or big. Not just when on vacation. It could mean just salvaging the moment of a cup of tea on the balcony any day or doing something grand or adventurous activity that you enjoy. We both started using it as a term for enjoying the moment. #Lifemode
If you could visit any place in the world tomorrow where would it be?
I would visit my friend Nate in Seattle. We would go to his cabin by the water and go fishing and gather oysters and then create experimental delicious dishes together. I want to try his home made candied smoked salmon and I love his chicken liver pate that he has made for me twice before.
Least favourite Food?
I am a total foodie and love to try new and strange dishes! I quite like all different kinds of food except pancakes. This often provokes people. “What?! How can you not like pancakes…what have they ever done to you”. Then people generally think I must not like pancakes because I have not tried good ones. So then starts all the offers to make me pancakes to convert me. “You haven’t tried MY pancakes, you will love them”.
