Pledge 10
Our Contribution Program at Brisbane Wellbeing Psychologists
Brisbane Wellbeing Psychologists are committed to donating of 10% of our clinic profits to charities which help to improve the lives of vulnerable people.
Currently we support One Girl– Education support for girls in Africa via the scholarship graduation program.
From One Girl Graduation Program…
‘Educating girls has a multiplier effect. It empowers them to break the cycle of poverty – transforming not only their life, but their family, community and nation. Our scholarship girls are given everything they need to go to school – school fees, books, bags, uniforms, stationery kits, sanitary pads, (so they never have to skip school because of their period) exam fees, and more! You name it, we provide it.
Funds are also be used for School Awesomisation – so the girls can learn in safe classrooms, and use girl-friendly toilets. As well as Business Brains training, so girls can learn what it takes to start a small business to support themselves and their families, keeping them in school longer, and setting them up for life after they graduate.’
Thanks to our fantastic Senior Administrator Karen for organising, we have also been able to support the The Birthing Kit Foundation Australia
From The Birthing Kit Foundation of Australia…
Around 300,000 women and 3 million newborns die each year from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. Most of these deaths occur in developing countries. To help address this, we provide an opportunity for Australian volunteers to fundraise for and engage in the assembly of Birthing Kits.
We also support Little Dreamers – Support for Young Carers
From Little Dreamers…
Little Dreamers is Australia’s leading Young Carer support organisation, run by Young Carers for Young Carers. We recognise that not all young people in caring roles label themselves as a carer, because it’s just something that you do. That’s ok! Our tailored support programs work with Young Carers and their families to provide Dream Experiences, mentoring, tutoring, case management and more.
We are also keen to support a local Brisbane Charity with a focus on mental health.
We encourage local charities to apply who:
- Operate largely due to volunteer effort
- Exist to make life better for recipients with a focus on support and improving mental health in the Brisbane area
- Can demonstrate program impact and who otherwise struggle to fund programs
- Have DGR status
- To register interest please send an email to admin@brisbanewellbeing.com.au and tell us all about your charity and how you feel it meets the above criteria.
Before establishing the clinic, Brisbane Wellbeing Psychologist’s owners Shannon and Steve Yeardley ran local charity The Flower Project Foundation from 2012 to 2015, and know firsthand the long hours and dedication that goes into running a charitable organisation. The Flower Project involved more than 50 wonderful volunteers who created and delivered more than 3000 ‘bouquets of caring’ to acknowledge and appreciate people in the community who faced challenging and often isolating circumstances. Recipients included carers, parents of special needs or very ill kids, people who had experienced challenging life circumstances or people who really went out of their way to make lives better for others.
Many of our volunteers have gone on to have wonderful careers in related industries! The Flower Project featured on the Sunrise Program, QWeekend Magazine, The Sunday Mail, and approximately 40 other media articles- and not to forget our Ekka display which won first prize (and certainly a life experience in getting all the display in and out of a very crowded RNA showgrounds- something our volunteers will never forget!)
